scopi:
This alien was described by a young man named Tiago Machado, who said it emerged from a craft that landed in Pirassununga, San Paolo, Brazil in February, 1969. Machado described the alien as having antennas, but apparently the Japanese artist didn’t like them. The odd posture, with the left hand behind the back, is based on a drawing the witness made.
The year 1969 had quite the bumper crop of people saying they saw UFOs land, and Central and South America (and especially Brazil) had a flap of people seeing bubble-helmeted aliens. What strikes me about this is that these people were basically claiming to see the Apollo moon landing in reverse; instead of space-suited humans landing on an alien world, they’re seeing space-suited aliens landing here. Keep in mind the Apollo landing was in July of the year, and therefore all over the news. Another Brazilian sighting had the witness describing the presumed craft she saw as a “silver tent.” I’m not sure I could come up with a simpler two word description of the Eagle lander.
